Abians hails Gov. Otti over suspension of Ministry Heads

Abians on social media has given a kudos to the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti in the recent news of the suspension of Permanent Secretaries and Head Of Service in the State.

This is even as the governor approves the appointment of Lady Joy Maduka, Director, Ministry of Education, as Acting Head of Service (HOS).

“Following the inauguration of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the Recovery of Properties and Funds belonging to Abia State Government, the Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has directed the immediate suspension of the Head of Service (HOS) and all Permanent Secretaries in the State civil service,” Governor Otti said in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko.

The governor also went further to exclude from the list of Perm Secs and HOS, Mrs. U. G. Uche Ikonne – (Solicitor General) the wife of late Abia State PDP gubernatorial candidate, Prof Uchenna Ikonne and Clerk of the House, John Pedro Iroakazi. “All the Permanent Secretaries, except the following:

“John Pedro Iroakazi – Clerk of the House;

“Mrs. U. G. Uche Ikonne – Solicitor General

“are by this notice directed to hand over to the most senior Director in their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

“This directive takes immediate effect“, the governor said.

Reacting over the news of the suspension of Perm Secs and HOS, Abians on social media has commended Governor Otti for what they termed as “bold step”. According to social media commentators, some Permanent Secretaries and Head Of Service are richer than commissioners.

Others hailed the governor for the directives, according to them, it’s in the right direction following the fact that Otti wants to move the State forward hence the need to overhaul the old older.
